: When you think of restaurant choices in Maine, Thai food may not be the first to come to mind. Yet amazingly good Thai food exists, and you don't even have to go all the way to Portland. If for some reason you are in southern Maine and are starting to grow claws from eating so much lobster and are looking for a change of pace, head on over to Mekong Thai (207-967-8827) in the Lower Village area of Kennebunk for some delicious and inexpensive spicy eats.

Speaking of the Kennebunks, based on the commercials alone, I can tell you that the town of "Mooseport" in the new movie "Welcome to Mooseport" is totally based on Kennebunkport (home of ex-pres George Bush I). Just so you know.

It's much easier to type now that my fingers have thawed out. After the ice-age that was January, February seems positively spring-like with its multiple days of permarfrost-melting upper-30 degree days. Winter is so much more enjoyable when you can go outside and not have to worry about some extremity or another falling off from frostbite. I even tried cross-country skiing for the first time. Lots of fun and no broken limbs!
