: ...and a Happy New Year
Hello again everyone, I hope the new year finds you well. We had a snowy pre-Christmas season here in Maine, but managed to get out and enjoy the various activities and of course the lobster-themed xmas trees.

Christmas day was fun and relaxing. For dinner, we made an insanely complicated and fancy lobster recipe. Fortunately, I was able to prep everything a day ahead of time, so all that was left for Christams day was the heating and eating.

The timing was good in enjoying such a good meal, because we then battled the flu for a couple of days and didn't feel like eating much of anything.

Feeling somewhat less than 100%, we headed down to NY for more fun and family. Also we saw the very cool train display at the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx and even some sights in White Plains.

It was relatively warm in NY (in the 50-degree range) so I ended up leaving my coat in NY and had to have it mailed back to me. Just in time - I walked to work today with a temp of zero. But now it is up to 1 degree F! It will allegedly get up to 10 today and the next couple of days. There's even a "wind chill advisory". Still, I prefer this winter with its cold snap to last winter, which was just one long cold snap. And I got nice warm gloves for xmas that are working wonderfully.

That's the new year update so far. I'm back at work, busy otherwise (I got some nice freelance work going) and in general 2004 is starting out OK.

If yesterday's Lobster Robot was too geeky for you, I present Lobster Barbie as an alternative.

On the more serious side, a lobster heist may close down a seafood business.

But then, why steal lobser when the wind will simply blow them to shore for you?

Today's Walk to Work(tm) Temperature: 8 degrees below zero F

... The National Weather Service continues the wind chill warning for western Maine and northern... central and southeast New Hampshire today...
The combination of strong northwest winds and low air temperatures will produce extremely dangerous wind chill values of 30 to 50 below zero through this afternoon.
Wind chill values this low are very dangerous and care should be taken to protect yourself from the extreme conditions.

Today's Walk to Work temp: 11 below zero (and not too windy, fortunately).

I don't even know how to respond to something like "50 below zero". You might as well say the temperature is going to be a very cold "bleem" degrees.

Donald Trump on two of my favorite subjects, lobsters and the Internet:

"A friend called me up the other day and talked about investing in a dot-com that sells lobsters. Internet lobsters. Where will this end? The next day he sent me a huge package of lobsters on ice. How low can you stoop?"

Easy for him to say - you can always find fresh Maine lobsters in NYC. Or, he can hop in his helicopter and fly up the coast. For many, Internet Lobsters are the way to go.
