Personal Projects
hiptop Nation
October 2002 - 2010
What happens when a populous and varied group starts adopting technology that lets them capture and share their lives with increasing effortlessness? I started hiptop Nation as a communal weblog for thousands of cameraphone users to find out. This site inspired the term "moblogging."
Humorous Diversions
January 1998 - Present
The technology sector is exciting, challenging and all too often ridiculous. The critically-acclaimed Be Dope traces the story of the Be Operating System in over 400 articles. More general technology humor was published at segfault.org. Recently I was a collaborator at Angry Octopus Comics.
Interactive Fiction
August 2000 - Present
I contribute descriptive text and dialog (along with supporting graphics and material) to various works of interactive fiction (a.k.a. text adventures). Spend a couple of hours with Guess the Verb! or Degeneracy for examples.

I also guest lectured about online interaction in the occasional class.

Kennebunk, Maine
Rebuilt the Tom's of Maine website, including visual design and branding elements, site organization and backend code. Delivered backend code and front-end design for all web projects, such as the Rivers Awareness Program and Dental Health for All.
